Six comprehensive programs transforming lives across Delhi NCR

Child Education

What We Do: Our Community Learning Centres provide non-formal education to out-of-school children from waste picker families. We run daily classes in Hindi, English, Social Science, Science, and Mathematics, along with personality development and communication skills training.

Who Benefits: Out-of-school children, especially street children, working children, children of waste pickers. We currently serve over 300 children across our centres.

Impact: We have successfully mainstreamed 200+ children into formal schools and continue to provide follow-up support to ensure their retention in schools.

Healthcare

What We Do: We organize monthly health camps in partnership with Max Foundation and CII, providing free medical consultations and medicines. Our comprehensive referral services connect people to various healthcare facilities.

Who Benefits: All members of waste picker communities, with special focus on children, pregnant women, elderly, and those with chronic health conditions.

Impact (2022-23): 2,854 referred for COVID vaccination, 419 for general health check-up, 315 for HIV testing, 119 for eye check-up.

Women Empowerment

What We Do: Our women empowerment program focuses on forming Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and providing vocational training in stitching, tailoring, and embroidery. We conduct awareness programs on women's rights and legal entitlements.

Who Benefits: Poor and vulnerable women from waste picker communities, particularly those involved in waste picking and segregation.

Impact: Over 150 women are part of our SHG program. We provide loans through SHG groups working under District Urban Development Agency (DUDA), Ghaziabad.

Drug Abuse Prevention

What We Do: We run comprehensive prevention and intervention programs — school awareness campaigns, community sensitization, individual and group counseling, and referral services to de-addiction centres.

Who Benefits: At-risk youth, school children, waste picker community members, and family members of those affected by substance abuse.

Impact (2022-23): 1,246 individual counseling sessions, 716 group counseling sessions, 71 referrals to Drop-in Centres, 19 referrals to de-addiction centres.

Community Development

What We Do: Our community development initiatives focus on advocacy for waste picker rights, helping community members obtain identity cards, access government schemes, and receive social security benefits.

Who Benefits: Waste picker families, marginalized communities, and other socially disadvantaged populations in our target areas.

Impact (2022-23): 136 community meetings, 71 awareness programs, 1,014 home visits, 112 school admissions facilitated, 69 linked to Anganwadi centres.

Skill Development

What We Do: Our vocational training programs equip youth and adults with marketable skills that enable them to secure better employment or start their own businesses.

Who Benefits: Youth and adults from waste picker communities, particularly those looking for alternative livelihood options.

Impact (2022-23): 268 individuals trained in stitching skills. Many have started their own tailoring businesses or secured employment in garment factories.
